Why is design an important part of revitalizing communities?
Design affects how we feel about ourselves, the work/play we do, and the environment we’re in.  By engaging all stakeholders in the design process, a community design acknowledges this broader impact, and reflects everyone's needs. It’s for everyone, by everyone.
What has been most surprising, rewarding, or fun about your Collaborative experience?
As a student (second career), I volunteered with CDC hoping to at least have a small role in a project, take notes, do some research, etc. However during the first team meeting, I was given full responsibility for developing the interior design concept. It was a rewarding experience to be able to apply the skills and knowledge I was learning in my classes to an actual project.

What do you love most about Philadelphia?
I really like how many unique areas are in the city.  I'm a transplant, but even after living here 33 years, I still find myself in new sections of the city, wondering "Why haven't I been here before?"
