Why is design an important part of revitalizing communities?
As designers we are able to shape neighborhoods, and it's important to keep the communities who make up the neighborhood apart of the design process. There is a fine line between revitalization and gentrification. It's important to study the context before we come try to add or change it.
What has been most surprising, rewarding, or fun about your Collaborative experience?
The most fun and surprising part of my collaborative experience was working with the client and community. They both had large visions/ dreams for what the site could become, and trying to prioritize both the client and the community's wants with what was realistically possible for the site was a challenge.
What do you love most about Philadelphia?
I love most the murals and the many amazing restaurants. There is always a new one to try!
