The Collaborative awarded the Friends Rehabilitation Program (FRP) a design grant for the renovation and reuse of the historic “Vicky B” Mansion and Carriage House in Belmont. Following the FRP’s mission of providing affordable housing and social services to over 750 individuals, the design team came up with two options for a new community hub. The first option provided plans for an all residential re-use made up of affordable apartments. The second option provides plans for expanding the Carriage House to create space for a training facility and a flex space for community gatherings.
"It was fun to meet new people in a related field with similar interests and desire to help the city."
"Engaging the community allows the design process to not only be an academic exercise, but a meaningful conversation between communities."
