For Park(ing) Day Philadelphia 2017, the Community Design Collaborative transformed its parking space into a pop-up lending library.
The library brought in a steady stream of patrons and sparked great conversations about favorite reads. The colorful enclosure designed to look like the spines of favorite books ranging from The Iliad to Catcher in the Rye, wooden crate shelving, and kid-friendly volumes were later re-installed at the Wister Recreation Center in Germantown.
A special thanks to the volunteers who imagined, built, and shared the little library:
Jeffrey Brummer, Richard Hwang, Nissa Eisenberg, Jacob Lightman, Katie Roof, and Stephen Wayland.
