Bugs and Biomes: Greenfield’s Schoolyard Supports Student Field Research

In 2006, a Design Grant from the Collaborative helped Albert M. Greenfield Elementary School envision and build a groundbreaking green schoolyard. Fast forward ten years and Greenfield students and their science teacher have completed a five-year field research project tracking biomes and wildlife in Greenfield's rain garden. The study has been submitted for a CEQ-EPA Presidential Innovation Award for Environmental Educators. See our preliminary design for Greening Greenfield.

Notes from the Field highlights the successes of our nonprofit partners and documents the ongoing impact of the Collaborative's Design Grants. Learn more about the preliminary design services and volunteer expertise contributed through this Design Grant here
