Early design assistance can have a big impact. It helps nonprofit organizations assess their options, raise funding, use resources effectively, and develop high-quality projects that will enhance both their missions and the larger community. But funding for preliminary design services is not easy to find. The Community Design Collaborative fills this gap by providing grants of pro bono preliminary design services to nonprofits.
The Collaborative's service grants offer a package of preliminary design services tailored to the specific needs of the nonprofit. On average, our grants provide $10,000 in preliminary design services. These services are performed pro bono by volunteers from the design professions. An administrative fee of $1,000 is required at the start of a service grant to offset direct costs.
